A pearl seed elusive to his reach Through forest fields falling as an art ‘Till time encrypted it in grass beneath To darkened garden refuge fled the child In search of what he was and who he loved Lost in place where God awakes in wild His tears unearthed the pearl faithful son The song that brought him rest came from her voice The light that broke the dark came from her face All flashed his beauty’s past, sent from her source Her warmth, the rising sun of God’s embrace A sister was the promise made to he Great slavery to be her garden tree
